What is Abortion Pill Reversal?
Abortion Pill Reversal (or APR) is a medical process created to counteract the effects of mifepristone, the first abortion pill. It works by giving a women high doses of progesterone, which is a natural pregnancy hormone.
Mifepristone (the first abortion pill) works by blocking progesterone supply to the baby. APR works by restoring that lost progesterone in an attempt to save the pregnancy.
It’s important to start the APR process as soon as possible. The chances of successfully saving your pregnancy are highest when you begin APR in the first 24-48 hours after taking the abortion pill.
What is the process of APR?
If you choose APR, the process typically entails:
1. Taking doses of progesterone. This can be done orally, by vaginal suppository, or by injection.
2. Getting follow-up ultrasounds. These are done to check progress and safety.
Is APR safe and effective?
Progesterone has been used in pregnancy care for decades. In obstetrics, progesterone is often administered to help support IVF pregnancies and prevent miscarriages. It is not an unknown or uncommon hormone, but rather one that is commonly prescribed in early pregnancy care (Dante, et al).
If you choose to move forward with APR, you will be connected with medically licensed professionals who will help you through the process and answer any questions you may have.
According to a medical study from the National Library of Medicine, out of 754 women who took APR after taking the first abortion pill, 67% successfully reversed the effects of the abortion pill. Those who were unable to reverse the abortion pill had no side effects or complications from APR. Additionally, there was no increased risk of birth defects in the babies who were born from APR. The conclusion of this medical study is that APR is both safe and effective.
Timing is everything. The sooner you begin the APR process, the more likely you are to reverse the effects of the abortion pill. There are real people on the 24/7 APR hotline who are here to help get you started. Call them at 1-877-558-0333.
